Post natal classes
Have you recently given birth and are now looking to get more active, meet mums in a similar situation to you, and do it all in a supervised, professional and safe setting? Then look no further.
What we offer:
Small group classes of 4 individuals - no more. A well designed progressive class that will rebuild strength and confidence in your body and provide a platform for whatever you want to achieve.
Small groups allow the class to be tweaked and tailored to individual demands that cannot be achieved with larger classes and so it is more focused than a typical post natal exercise class.
Classes last 1 hour and are broken into 2 sections, with a 5-10 minute break in the middle for a toilet break if required.
Is this class suitable for me?
If you have had your 6 week check and been given the go ahead then absolutely. If you had complications during child birth then we may need to discuss your suitability, or introduce you at a later date than 6 weeks. Before registering for the class you will be required to fill out a form that will determine your suitability, (all information will be kept confidential), but you will be in a room with women who have had a similar experience to you.
Additionally, if you have already taken part in a post natal class that has not resolved post birth problems including pelvic floor dysfunction, or hip or back problems then get in contact with us as we will likely be able to help.
Classes are held in a private gym facility at the Tyneside Badminton Centre, NE5 2TA. Facilities on site include toilets, changing rooms, showers, and cafe facilities. There is ample parking right outside the centre.
Why I do this:
From working in a private clinical setting I see a lot of women who have developed back and hip problems that stem from childbirth - particularly those that have had a C-section, an episiotomy, birthing complications, or required surgery after birth due to tearing. These problems could often have been prevented if the individual had followed the right post natal program. So having discovered that the NE has a lack of post natal support and few classes I decided to try and help the situation.
